The damaging effects of optical radiation on the eye are determined by their different wavelength and the resulting energy level. The radiation is divided into UV ultraviolet radiation (length: 100-380 nm), visible radiation (length 380-780 nm) and infrared IR-A (780 nm-1 mm). The IR lens totally blocks the absorption of ultraviolet rays (UV-A, UV-B, UV-C), responsible for pathologies such as cataracts, retinal degeneration and photoceratoconjunctivitis. It also blocks the absorption of blue light (380-550 nm), responsible for photoretinitis. Blocks the absorption of infrared rays (IR-A), which cause thermal damage and induce cataracts, as well as being responsible for corneal and retinal damage , also protects from dry keratoconjunctivitis.
